Film Discussion – “I Am Not Your Negro”

This time on The Missouri Review Soundbooth Podcast, TMR interns Michaela Flores, Will Moore, Evan Pagano, and Steven Zokal gather to discuss I Am Not Your Negro. I Am Not Your Negro is a recently released documentary based on one of James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscripts. Directed by Raoul Peck, the film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. It looks at the lives of three murdered civil rights activists: Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Medgar Evers. Michaela, Will, Evan, and Steven discuss their reactions to the film and Baldwin’s words, which, though first written in the 80s, are still relevant today.
