Calamity and Other Stories
Calamity and Other Stories, the debut collection of short fiction from Daphne Kalotay, has just been published by Doubleday. Kalotay’s stories have twice appeared within the pages of The Missouri Review: “Seeing” (24:2, 2001) and “Seranade” (23:3, 2000). Jhumpa Lahiri has praised Kalotay’s work: “I have been reading and admiring Daphne Kalotay’s stories for a decade. They are old-fashioned in the best sense of the word, plainspoken and melancholy, about ordinary people struggling with the trials of ordinary life.”
