The Miller Aud-cast | April 04, 2021

Hello and welcome to Miller Aud-cast episode 13. Today we’re featuring Dylan McGonigle’s prose selection, “Boxing Day.”

Dylan McGonigle is an MFA Candidate at the Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program. His work has appeared in the Normal School. He is hoping to get back to his song archives sometime soon.

At this stage in arts culture, where most of the things people make are consigned to content, it is rejuvenating to discover people who are ardently committed to making art, whether that means literature, or music, or some combination of the two. Dylan McGonigle’s “Boxing Day” is a vulnerable meditation on creative life and dreams of rock stardom, dreams that McGonigle shares with his roommate, bandmate, and best friend, Skylar. The labor that goes into trying to realize these dreams is revelatory, and humbling, and here it is for you to enjoy.

I want to take this moment to remind you that submissions are open now for the 2021 Miller Audio Prize. Learn more at www.missourireview.com.
