Our Best American Short Stories reprints
If you missed reading Mary Yukari Waters’ “Rationing” when it was our Editors’ Prize Winner in Fiction, then maybe you caught it when it was reprinted in Best American Short Stories 2003. This year, get a jump on things and read R.T. Smith’s “Docent”” so you may nod knowingly, even smugly, when BASS 2004 comes out and you confess to your friends that you read this great little story back in the day. This year’s guest editor is Lorrie Moore and if what I’ve heard about other selections is true then the 2004 edition is going to shake things up a bit.
