Charles Martin Kearney traveled in Central Asia, northern and central India and the Middle East in the 1970s.  In the summer of 1977 he settled in Israel, at Kibbutz Shamir in the Golan Heights, where he worked in the orchard groves and taught English in the local kibbutz high school.  He currently lives with his wife in Columbia, Maryland, where he writes full time.  [2004]
