Joseph Murtagh received his PhD in English from Cornell University in August 2009. He currently teaches at Ithaca College. He was the winner of the 2004 Creative Nonfiction Award from the Mid-American Review. From May 2008 to September 2009 he worked as an organizer for the Working Families Party, with whom he assisted in the 2008 Democratic takeover of the New York State Senate, an experience he’s writing about in a book project titled Campaign Days.
