Reese Okyong Kwon’s fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Epoch, Mississippi Review, Narrative and Gigantic. She has received scholarships from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and the Norman Mailer Writers’ Colony. In 2008 she graduated with an MFA from Brooklyn College. [2010]

They came to class in bandages. Girls came to class in bandages. It started six days in. One of the girls was missing, but we still expected her. I stood at the podium in my high heels, pretending to be tall and not thinking of my dead mother.
