Robert Leonard Reid

Robert Leonard Reid has published four essay collections. He has received two Artist Fellowships in Literary Arts from the Nevada Arts Council and a Silver Pen Award from the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame. Reid’s new book, Because It Is So Beautiful: Unraveling the Mystique of the American West (Counterpoint Press), a collection of 19 essays on the American West, was a finalist for the 2018 PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. A musician and composer as well as a writer, he has played piano in a variety of Reno-area bands and composed the ninety-minute Bristlecone Mass, which premiered in 2011.
